National Tuberculosis Elimination Program

We the Department of Respiratory Medicine at KIMS work in collaboration with NTEP center present in KIMS hospital campus. Where TB testing, counselling and treatment is done free of cost for all patients. We have a fully functioning TB unit with a medical officer, health visitor and laboratory for testing of sputum in suspected TB cases, with an experienced lab technician. NTEP includes a DOTs center where counselling and treatment for TB are being provided by TB counsellor under one roof and they regularly collaborate with ICTC (Integrated counselling and testing center for HIV / AIDS) in providing free testing for HIV and optimal treatment for HIV patients with TB
We also have a four-bedded isolation ward for DRTB with collaboration with DRTB district center for patients who require long-term care and hospitalization.

Facilities available

1.Testing for Tuberculosis – Sputum AFB , NAAT(Nucleic Acid Amplification Test) , MGIT (TB culture)

2.Directly Observed Treatment (DOTS) for drug sensitive TB and drug resistant TB

3.TB counselling center

5.DRTB ward – 4 bedded , 2 female and 2 male

6.Work in collaboration with ICTC , with free testing for HIV
