Covid 19 Vaccination

KIMS Hospital and Research center is one of the leading private hospitals in Bangalore providing Covid 19 vaccination. Hospital is giving vaccination since the introduction of vaccine in the country from January 2021. The vaccination center has Waiting Area, registration desk, vaccination room, observation room and fully equipped to manage any untoward reactions. Vaccines are stored in cold chain room dedicated to covid vaccines only. Till now we have vaccinated around 10,000 doses. Vaccination is available for all above 18 yrs of age. Covishield is available at present.

Covid 19 Testing

The Molecular lab situated in KIMS HOSPITAL & RESEARCH CENTRE is equipped with automated RT-PCR machine GeneXPert. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic we have done more than 3500 test by this method. The Xpert Xpress SARS-CoV-2 test is a rapid, real-time RT-PCR test intended for the qualitative detection of nucleic acid from the SARS-CoV-2 in upper respiratory specimens (i.e., nasopharyngeal, oropharyngeal, nasal, or mid-turbinate swab or nasal wash/ aspirate) collected from individuals suspected of COVID-19. Results for the test can be got within 50 minutes whereas the conventional RT-PCR takes 3-6 hours. Our lab is accredited by NABL and also approved by ICMR. Conventional RTPCR testing is done at the Central Research Lab situated in Banashankari campus where testing is done on a large scale. The results are provided within 24 hours. Till date around 1,80,000 RTPCR tests are done by conventional RTPCR method.

Covid 19 Care and Treatment

The entire department of General Medicine strived hard to deliver the best care possible and are trusted sources of health information for their patients during Covid 19 pandemic. It successfully committed in arming the other department staff with the accurate and helpful information they need to treat patients with COVID-19, in keeping other patients and staff safe and also empowering staff to protect their own health. All the staff as well as post graduates from department of general medicine put their best efforts to provide care round the clock in ICU, HDU and wards as well. Be it any procedures like intubation or securing an intravenous line the medical personnel never put a foot down. The privilege of good equipment’s, continuous oxygen supply teamed with skilled experts made it possible to successfully manage both government as well as private admissions. As a primordial measures the department of general medicine encourage screening of all admitted patients as well as vaccination in them. Hopefully our effort will be fruitful in curbing the covid 19 pandemic effectively .

Dept of general medicine, with the help of other departments, have so far treated more than 3540 covid patients as in patients with success rate comparable to the best institutions in Bangalore.

The department also has faculty who represent in various Dermatology organisations and participate actively in academic activities as faculty. The department is well known for its good clinical material and also for organizing various academic activities like Hands on workshops/ conferences, national and international CME/ workshops.
