Comprehensive Care support and Anti Retroviral Treatment Centre, KIMSH&RC, Bangalore


The Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART), KIMSHR&C, Bangalore was one of the few private medical colleges to start ART services as early as 2008as public-private partnership under the aegis of National AIDS Control Organization in collaboration with Karnataka Health Promotion Trust working under Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society and District AIDS prevention & Control Unit (DAPCU), BBMP, Bangalore. Karnataka network for people living with HIV/AIDS(KNP+), an NGO is attached to the centre since 2013.


The standalone centre is one of its kind having all the services in one place to mitigate the suffering of the patients. The ART centre has put on treatment more than 5000 plus patients till date. The centre catersto the patients from Bangalore urban/rural areas, neighboring districts and states.The service delivery model focuses on core areas of HIV support, care and treatment.

The priority areas are:

Counselling services from a strong and dedicated team of NACO trained and certified counsellors.

Clinical evaluation and treatment by the medical officer, laboratory and radiological investigative procedures and follow up.

ART adherence monitoring along with Pharmaceutical education and monitoring

KNP+ out-reach workers execute field tasks that include Home based care patient education, treatment adherence and promotion of positive prevention and living.

The centre is also involved in research work including dissertation and PhD topics, which have a direct beneficial effect on patient care and needs.
