THE DEPARTMENT OF RADIO-DIAGNOSIS

COURSES OFFERED

We offer the following courses:

1. Post graduation in Radio-Diagnosis - 1 seat for MD and 1 seat for DMRD per year

2. BSc. Radiography - The department has applied for permission at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) for an intake for 5 students. We are hopefull of starting the course from the admission year of 2007 to 2008.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMME

A monthly quiz is exhibited in the department for in-house consultants, interns & students.
Regular inter-departmental meetings with all departments are held.

The department boasts of a well equipped departmental library and a museum which has interesting x-rays,
projector slides, CDs, Video tapes. Ready lecture CDs prepared by the staff are available for the students.

Guest lectures by eminent radiologists of the city are held early in the morning between 8 a.m. to 9-00 a.m.
twice a month on Thursdays. These guest lectures are for in house doctors and post graduates students of
radio-diagnosis of various medical colleges.

Ongoing research studies:
1. Characterzation of malignant & benig lymph adenopathy by ultrasound.
2. Role of transvaginal sonography V/S diagnostic hysteroscopy in the evaluation of abnormal uterine bleeding
3. Pelvic floor evaluation by 3D/4D Ultrasound.

Studies Completed:
1. Sonomammography – A pathological correlation.
2. Thyroid lesions U/S and pathological correlation.
3. Evaluation of post prandial hypertriglyceridemia with carotid intima media thickness in
    type 2 diabetes mellitus.
4. Doppler study in uterine & umbilical artery to predict. IUGR & PIH.
5. Brachial artery flow evaluation in diabetic patients.
6. Ultra sound & surgical correlation in acute appendicitis.
7. Penile Doppler in erectible dysfunction.
8. Penile ultrasound in penile trauma.
9. Tendon sonography of hands.
10. Comparative study of sonosalphingography with hystero salphingography in evaluation
     of tubal patency in female infertility.
11. Modified bio physical profile as an antepartum surveillance test in high risk pregnancy
     – prospective comparative study with conventional bio physical profile.
12. Study of fetal nuchal translucency (NT) As a screening tool to defect fetal congenital abnormalities
      and cardiac defects.
13. Transcerebellar diameter & AC rations – as a predictor of abnormal outcome of pregnancy.
