Department of E.N.T

Department of ENT in Kempegowda institute of medical sciences adheres to the requirements of the MCI with adequate facilities for both undergraduate and post graduate teaching programs . At present there are 2 MS and 1 DLO seats and 150 undergraduate seats- MCI recognized . On an average, 1000 major and 1200 minor surgeries are performed every year with daily outpatients of 180-200. A fully equipped Audiology unit which includes Audiometry, Impedance, Otoacoustic emission, BERA and Speech therapy is available. The post graduates are guided and encouraged to do research works, Paper/Poster presentations in State, Zonal and National conferences  and attend workshops /CME’s. On rotation basis post graduates are also posted to other prestigious institutions – KIDWAI memorial institute of Oncology (Head &Neck surgery), NIMHANS (Neurosurgery and Speech & hearing) and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of TB and Chest diseases. Postgraduates attend rural health camps which are conducted by the hospital once a month. They provide primary health care to rural population and if further treatment is needed they are referred to the Hospital. The department is well equipped with latest equipments for all types of surgeries.CME’s , Hands-on workshops and Conferences are conducted regularly by the department.

The Department is well equipped with the following equipments: 1.  Zeiss operating microscopes with CCTV and recording facilities – 2 No.s. 2.  Storz Adult and Pediatric  Nasal endoscopes with Microdebrider set,  CCTV Camera and recording facilities. 3.  Flexible Nasopharyngobronchoscope. 3.  Micro motor and drill set for ear surgeries. 4.  Micro laryngeal Diagnostic and Surgical equipments. 5.  Temporal bone dissection lab with operating microscope and Micro motor with drill set. 6.  Diagnostic nasal endoscopy and Otoendoscopy facilities are available in the OPD. 7.  Videolaryngoscopy for OPD diagnostic purposes. 8.  Microscope for diagnostic and minor procedures in OPD. 9.  Vertigo and Headache clinic. 7.  Fully equipped Audiology unit with qualified Audiologist and Speech therapist. 8.  A Departmental Library with more than200 ENT books and journals by various National and International authors. On an average 1000 Major and 1200 Minor surgeries are performed every year. The average daily out patient attendance is 180-200.
