Faculty

The department of dermatology at Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences caters to a wide variety of people of all age groups with expert consultation in the fields of dermatology, trichology, venereology and Leprology.

With an average daily statistics of 350 patients in the outpatient department, and around 65 procedures, a highly personalised approach and treatment catering towards individual needs of patients is offered. We believe in long term solutions and not quick fixes, giving adequate importance to diet, nutrition and exercise apart from routine skin care. We have a passionate, dedicated and astute team of Clinicians, Aesthetic Dermatologists and highly skilled Dermatosurgeons backed by experienced nursing staff all of them working under the able leadership and guidance of the Head Of the Department- Dr Sharath Kumar B C.

The department of Dermatology aims at training of the undergraduates as well as postgraduates. The faculty not only impart knowledge, but also instill values of empathy, respect, good judgement and confidence to face different kinds of challenges after they have completed their course. As on 2021 there are 5 post- graduate seats per year. The course is recognized by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) as well as National Medical Commission (NMC), and the admission is through a competitive exam (NEET). Post graduate teaching programmes are held from Monday to Friday daily which includes seminars, case presentations, journal clubs, dermato pathology discussions, ward rounds etc.

The department also has faculty who represent in various Dermatology organisations and participate actively in academic activities as faculty. The department is well known for its good clinical material and also for organizing various academic activities like Hands on workshops/ conferences, national and international CME/ workshops.

The department of Dermatology at KIMS is well known for its “Quality care at affordable cost”.

The post graduate teaching programmes in the department are held from Monday to Friday daily, which includes seminars, Case presentations, journal clubs, dermato-pathology discussions etc . The department is well known for organizing various academic activities like Hands on workshops/ conferences, national and international CME/ workshops with participants from all over the country. The department of dermatology has conducted the national PG update (south zone) in March 2020, and has also actively participated in innumerable webinars where both faculty and post graduates present interesting cases.
